Jaana & Markus – Wedding in Italy, Santo Stefano Di Sessanio
Keeping my promise from last year, I will start this great year by presenting a series which is close to me. I have photographed in numerous locations in Italy, but somehow Abruzzo was left out of the “boot”, and that’s why I accepted the offer with great pleasure. The town of Santo Stefano Di Sessanio, which was the location of the wedding ceremony and the dinner, was part of the ancient Roman Empire. We arrived after a Sicilian wedding, so we already gave ourselves over to the Italian feeling. We first met in L’Aquila where we coordinated the details. Sentimental, personal and intimate photos. That was the request. In the meantime I was smiling to myself, since for me, these words mean the wedding itself… No matter how beautiful a location is, because if there is no common ground, then the result can’t be perfect neither.
Unfortunately I couldn’t plan the locations, since you had to drive one and a half hours on a serpentine from where we were staying to the town, so we had to stick with improvisation on the day of the wedding. I think it was good this way.
